Jonah 3

¹ And the word of Yahweh is coming to Jonah a second time saying, ² "Rise! Go unto Nineveh, the great city, and call out to it the call which I am speaking to you." ³ And Jonah is rising and going to Nineveh, according to the word of Yahweh. Now Nineveh had become a great city to Elohim, of three days walking. ⁴ And Jonah is starting to enter into the city, a walk of one day. And he is calling out and saying, "Forty days more and Nineveh shall be overturned." ⁵ Then the men of Nineveh are believing in Elohim. And they are calling a fast and are putting on sackcloths, from their greatest unto their small. ⁶ And the word is touching the king of Nineveh. And he is rising from his throne and is transferring his fur robe from him, and he is covering himself with sackcloth and is sitting on ashes. ⁷ And he is calling a convocation, and he is saying in Nineveh, "By the decree of the king and his great ones, saying: Human and beast, herd and flock must not be tasting aught. They must not be grazing, and water they must not be drinking. ⁸ The human and the beast shall cover themselves with sackcloths. And they shall call with steadfastness to Elohim. And they shall turn back, each man, from his evil way and from the wrong which is in their palms. ⁹ Who is knowing if He will reverse, and the Elohim will regret and turn back from His hot anger, and we shall not perish?" ¹⁰ And the Elohim is seeing their doings, that they turn back from their evil way. And the Elohim is regretting over the evil which He spoke to do to them, and He does it not.
