Micah 6

¹ Hear, pray, the word which my Lord Yahweh is saying: "Rise, contend with the mountains, and the hills shall hear your voice. ² Hear, you mountains, the contention of Yahweh, and you perennial foundations of the earth. For a contention has Yahweh with His people, and with Israel will He plead. ³ My people! what do I to you? And with what do I tire you? Answer against Me! ⁴ For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and from the house of servants I ransomed you. And I am sending before you Moses, Aaron and Miriam. ⁵ My people, remember, I pray, what Balak, king of Moab, counseled, and what Balaam, son of Beor, answered him, from Shittim unto Gilgal, that you may know the righteousness of Yahweh. ⁶ With what shall I forestall Yahweh, and be bending to my Elohim of the height? Shall I forestall Him with ascent approaches, with calves a year old? ⁷ Will Yahweh accept thousands of rams, with myriads of watercourses of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my belly for the sin of my soul? ⁸ He has told you, O humanity, what is good; and what is Yahweh requiring from you save to do judgment and love kindness, and to walk meekly with Yahweh your Elohim? ⁹ The voice of Yahweh is calling to the city, and real wisdom will fear His name. Hear the rod and who appointed it. ¹⁰ Are there yet in the house of the wicked treasures of wickedness and an ephah of leanness, a menace? ¹¹ Shall I be pure with wicked scales? And with a purse of deceitful standard weights? ¹² For its rich men are full of wrong, and its dwellers speak falsehood, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth. ¹³ And, moreover, I start to smite you, to desolate you on account of your sins. ¹⁴ You shall eat and not be satisfied, and darkness shall be within you. And you shall turn away and not retrieve, and that which you are delivering, I will give to the sword. ¹⁵ You shall sow, yet not reap. You shall tread olives, yet not rub with oil, and grape juice, yet you shall not drink wine." ¹⁶ They are keeping the statutes of Omri, and every deed of the house of Ahab; and you are going in their counsels, that I may give you up to desolation, and its dwellers to hissing, and you shall bear the reproach of My people."
